Windows 7 OSD/special keys drivers ?

#1 Post by lambch0ps » Mon Sep 10, 2012 6:53 pm

Hey, I recently installed windows 7 on my thinkpad x60, without much of a hitch, as well as all the varying drivers from the lenovo support site. I also installed the "lenovo update and drivers" application, and ran it, installed the updates, and rebooted several times. However, pressing some of the function commands (screen brightness, thinklignt) doesnt show anything on the screen.

Furthermore, keys like the lock (F2), screen off (F3), dont work. The volume keys do change the volume, but this isnt mirrored in the actual sound settings inside windows 7.

Does anybody have any clue where I can get these from or what diagnostics to run ? Ive installed the drivers from the lenovo site, as well as ran the update and driver tools multiple times, but nothing seems to change.

You need the Hotkey Driver.
Remember to read all instructions when installing drivers. Often, running the file downloaded from Lenovo does not actually install the driver, but merely extract driver files to C:\Drivers, and manual installation is required.

I did install the drivers after they were extracted to their respective directory, and rebooted, did several cycles of this and still no result.

Could I have a hardware problem ?

UPDATE : After applying Windows 7 SP1 as well as the recommended windows driver updates (some of them quite old), as opposed to running the lenovo thinkvantage tool, the OSD issues have been rectified.
