T400 Screen Upgrade
Hi,
I am looking at buying a T400, the current screen is a 14.1" 1280x800 LCD, and if I do buy it, I would like to upgrade the screen to a 14.1" 1440x900 LED screen. Can this be done? and if so how easy?
Thanks

Re: T400 Screen Upgrade
It's doable, and not that difficult - depending on one's skill level, of course.

Re: T400 Screen Upgrade
Two ways to go, 1) swap the panel, 2) swap the entire assembly. If using eBay, the cost can be the same. I prefer the entire assembly swap, since it leaves me with more spare parts and a non-webcam model can be upgraded with a webcam at that time. PLUS, I don't have to figure out if I have an LED or CCFL panel, since they are not interchangeable w/o the LCD cable & inverter card.
Good luck, it's not too hard. If you do the panel swap, the hardest part is removing the LCD cover. It is very thin plastic with several hooks that break easily. Review the HMM and go slowly. Big hnt: slide it up before pulling it away from the frame. Note: not all assemblies have all five antennas. Some have two, some three and some five. Know what you need and know what your buying!

Re: T400 Screen Upgrade
I've done a screen upgrade on my T60 and that was easy, it was a straight swap and was a quick job too! But I did not have to touch the inverter or anything, Will I need to replace the ribbon cable to the screen and/or the inverter? The model is : 6475-UC4 and its my friend selling it for £160 (I guess this is a good price, cheaper then I could find on eBay)

Re: T400 Screen Upgrade
Hi, I see no one has answered my question about the cable, and inverter ???
Has no one done this before???
I guess have to see what i can find in the way of parts and see if they are different.
I also I ask if people with the T400 would post there screen back light type (lcd/led) and battery size, (33, 33+ or 33++) and how long they get on a fully charged battery, as I am trying to see if the upgrade would be worth doing? as if I only get a extra 15 mins to a fully charged battery, it is not worth the money.
Thanks
