TIPS: TP 760 MWAVE (sound) and Card Bus (LAN/WLAN)

Hi! I'm a Korean living in Seoul. I just would like to give some tips to some TP 760 users who have trouble in activating MWAVE sound driver and PCMCIA function. I have a 760XD and it works fine with wireless lan card.

1. The IBM MWAVE drive was made to work with Windows 95. So if you want to load Windows 98 to your system, you need to UPGRADE Windows 95 to Windows 98 or 98SE by using Windows 98 UPGRADE Version. It is just to preserve the original driver system. You should activate AUDIO function by using a set utility--ThinkPad Features--in Windows 95 system.

2. To use PCMCIA lan card, you should install the 760-only PC CARD Driver after deleting the PCMCIA SOKET items in the system option. Then upgrade your Win 95 to Win 98 system as I mentioned above. I'm using a wireless lan card after setting the IRQ to No. 4 by using the the ThinkPad Features utility.

3. Other featrues such as TV OUT, External Monitor, warm swap and so on could be truned on/off by using the ThinkPad Features.

# If you load Windows 98 into your system after deleting the previously installed Windows 95 by formatting hard disk drive, you would not be able to listen to music or surf the Internet.

Be happy with your TP. :D
