X61 Google Chrome Middle Button Scrolling [Solved]

#1 Post by kai » Fri Sep 21, 2012 6:36 am

Hi all,

I just got round to finally getting my hands on a nice X61 and after doing a fresh install of Windows 7 with all required drivers, etc. I noticed something a little peculiar when using the middle button scrolling feature in Google Chrome.

While the middle button scrolling feature actually works, if you push the trackpoint too hard in either direction (up or down), it significantly slows down the rate of scroll to a crawl. Scrolling seems to work correctly if you apply a little force in either the up or down direction. It;s proving to be immensely annoying trying to scroll quickly up and down webpages. It doesn't seem to make any difference which website I'm browsing. The strange thing is, this doesn't happen in other browsers or applications.

I tried to edit tp4tables.dat to manually add in an entry for Chrome, but all this seemed to do was disable middle button scrolling altogether!

I came from using a T61 just a few days prior and didn't notice this problem at all.

My trackpoint software/driver version is 4.73.1.0
Google Chrome version is: 21.0.1180.89 m

Any help would be appreciated

Ok, so this is now solved!

The problem was an extension in Google Chrome: Gestures for Chrome Plus by zimohan.com

Strangely enough, the other extension, Gestures for Chrome by ss-o.net works ok without affecting scrolling.

I hope this helps someone who has the same problem.
