Hi!
I bought from eBay a WWAN card. (04W3767)
After I installed, I got the following an error message:
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card (0BDB/1911)
System is halted_

Based on this BOM list: http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkP ... bom_v5.pdf
this card should be OK in my system.

Please help me!

Thanks in advance!

Strange. Are you sure it is Lenovo branded F5521gw WWAN card ? Because a generic one or card braned for different vendor (HP etc.) wouldn't work. Also notice that your FRU 04W3767 is Ericsson F5521gw (used in X220) but Lenovo (at least here) recommends FRU 0A36319 "Lenovo 3G Mobile Broadband Half WWAN" Ericsson H5321gw for X230.

Indeed. Sorry, no idea. The card might be broken. Return it, it is supposed to have 2 years EU warranty. BTW the H5321gw (newer) is cheaper than the F5521gw (older).

Moreover the are known issues with F5521gw (unable to reconnect without machine reboot) which Lenovo don't want to solve http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Th ... -p/560809/

Okay, I'll return this card to the seller and ask the refund.

So do you recommend the FRU 0A36319 ? (Any compatible/further FRUs?)

Based on local Lenovo shops information, the Lenovo 3G Mobile Broadband Half WWAN (Ericsson H5321gw) FRU 0A36319 is recommended for X230

Again, this is not a common known issue at all and seems to be related to your particular system configuration. Expecting Lenovo to resolve your specific configuration issues is unrealistic.

There are similar reports with the exactly same issue from other people as well.

Yes, since they sell unsupported hardware http://www.ericsson.com/news/111201_eri ... 44188808_c and does not allow to whitelist up-to-date (and supported) Sierra Wireless modules.

Okay, I'll buy this type of card, but I really don't know how can I place this "half-mini" card into a full-size socket...? (How can I mount it? How can I screw into place?)

update:
I found this adapter: Image
If I order FRU 0A36319 from Lenovo, it will comes with this metal adapter?

It looks like the FRU 0A36319 is fully equivalent with FRU 60Y3297. Am I right?

UPDATE:
I've called the local Lenovo and they said that this number 0A36319 isn't an FRU. guess this number is a P/N (part number) or other.
The FRU should contains ##X#### format (# number, X letter)

Good question. The situation with WWAN modules for X230 is a complete mess :(

1. all eshops (at least here) recommends the half size Ericsson H5321gw module for X230
2. all eshops (at least here) recommends the full size Ericsson F5521gw module for X220 only (while according Lenovo it is supposed to be X230 compatible as well)
3. no review have ever mentioned or shown the half size Ericsson H5321gw module and how to install it
4. there is no video for X230 in Hardware Removal & Installation Movie
5. finally Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X230, X230i on pages 72 and 73 shows the metal adapter. Whether it comes with the module or not is unknown again :(

I don't see any point in using these half size modules. It is still a mystery why Lenovo uses the (unsupported) Ericsson ones instead of Sierra Wireless modules providing 2G/3G/HSPA+/LTE options and supporting all frequencies (800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz) used in Europe. Some Fujitsu models are already equiped with Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC7710.

According to Device Manager, my X230T shipped with:
Sierra Wireless MC8355 Gobi(TM) 3000 HS-USB 9013

I haven't gotten it working yet. I'm running Windows 8 RP x64, and my SIM card reports: Missing Sim. AT&T shipped me a new one which arrives Monday, October 8th.
First Thinkpad 755CX in 1995. First IBM: PC 1982 8088 w 64K RAM, dual floppy. Currently in use:
X230T with Win8Pro x64, i7, 500gb ssd; W700 WUXGA RAID 1 Blu-Ray W7Pro x64, occasionally a T61p with Win7Pro x64

Hi,

for a while there was no action in here but I hope someone can help me. I installed my old Gobi2000 card from my x201 to my new x230 tablet without looking on compatibility. The system started without an issue but right know I get sometimes a BIOS error, but a reboot helps. After this I installed the drivers for this card, that I used in the x201 (win7 drivers) and the most recent Access Connection and the rest it needs (power management and hot-key). Right now I can see mobile boardband, the SIM card is listed, Gobi2000 is listed and is reported working. I can see mobile tower (but it states unknown instead of the service providers name), PIN is asked, SMS-s are there as well. But I can not connect as it seems that I can't turn on the mobile antenna. It is not listed in Fn+F5 list either (only BT and WIFI) and it always disconnects at this step.
My theory was, that if the system starts with a card, that has a proper win7 driver I don't see why it should not work?

Interestingly I get sometime unknown USB host messages, which is I thought would be connected to my wireless mouse, but I unplugged it and the message still appears (but could be else as well)...

So do you see there a possibility to have this config up and running with 3g? Thanks

Tóni
