Videomemory Thinkpad R51 2887 problem

#1 Post by SimonZ » Sun Sep 23, 2012 4:16 am

Hello,

I have a Thinkpad r51 2887 with an intel extreme graphics card.

But the problem is that my info screen displays that i only have 7 mb memory in use, that the minmum in 8, and the maximum is 64.

I want to change that but i don't see an option in the bios to change that?

is anyone able to help me with that?

kind regards

Simon

Welcome to the forum.
That Intel Video takes its memory out of the main RAM, of which you probably have only very little.
If you'd go up to the full 2x1GB RAM in it, you shouldn't have any problems.

the max of the graphics card is only 64 mb

as you see in the picture, i have a total of 758mb of memory

the strange thing is that it is using 7mb altough it says that 8 is the minimum

Open up a browser with 15-20 tabs, than check the memory usage again.
All that message says, is how much RAM (7MB) is USED. It can use up to the max. 64MB.
The minimum 8MB is only a statistic of what needs to be made available by the system.

Off-topic: I would HATE to have a Dutch version of Windows installed... :?

the 7 mb stays that way whatever i do.

but what you are suggesting that the memory in use is dynamic?

Yes, the graphics memory is dynamic with Intel GPU.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Would you mind going back into your user profile, and enter your City/Country or just Country in the other entry field as well?
That way it's easier for others to direct you better with help, should the occasion arise!
Bij voorbaat dank.
