(Kind of solved) Weird WXGA+ Issue

#1 Post by Tasurinchi » Mon Sep 24, 2012 1:26 pm

SOLVED!

My impatience was stronger than my lazyness :D So I swapped the lids and I have now a nice X200 AFFS modded and a X200s with WXGA+. Still why the screens did not work initially is beyond me...

Code: Select all

Dear T'padders.

A while ago I bought a "headless" X200s, the previous owner had broken the screen. I bought the parts over the net and did the AFFS mod. Works fine, so far so good.

A while after that I bought a complete WXGA+ assembly (LCD, cover, bezel, cable, antennae, etc. etc) ready for plug & play. Some days ago I bought another "headless" X200 (7455-8GG), it arrived today and when I installed the WXGA+ lid it did not work properly, screen shows everything with no almost no brightness.

I tried then the same lid on the X200s and it works :!: Means for me screen is not broken/defective

If I try the AFFS WXGA screen on the new X200 it works too :!: Means for me the X200 is not broken/defective

I updated the BIOS of the X200. No changes :(

What am I doing wrong? Did I overlook something? Am I using the wrong logic? I know I could swap the lids between the X200s/X200 but being me a lazy person I'd like to avoid double work. Plus I'm puzzled what's going on...

Thanks a lot in advance!

How much did you paid for the AFFS screeen, may I ask? I just sold my x200s and replaced with x230 IPS. Wow, what a difference!! So I was gonna do a AFFS screeen swap for my boy who still use a x200.

I still find it kinda expansive to gat a AFFS if you are not sourcing it from Asia. And I don't have any contact in Asia who can help me getting one from Taobo.

Thanks

I paid 98 USD on June this year... Bought it in Ebay from an Asian seller.

Same question here.

I tried to connect a complete WXGA+ assembly to three different X200 with no luck. It seems that the backlight stays off, but the screen content is slightly visible. Even the latest Whitelist BIOS provides no improvement.

The source X200s works pefectly with its original WXGA+ and the X200 WXGA screens.

Details:
X200s: 7469-5GG with SL9400 and LED WXGA+
X200: 7459-3T5 with T9550 and CCFL WXGA
X200: 7459-3T5 with T9550 and CCFL WXGA
X200: 7459-EU2 with T9400 and CCFL WXGA

Is it simply impossible? Has anyone tried it with an X201?

I've successfully swapped a x200s wxga+ screen to a x201. It is truly a deadly combo... first gen i5 and wxga+! i7 would have been nice but I was never able to source one that didn't have problems. :P
x220, w520, x201 (WXGA+), x61t (SXGA+)
