X230t & Ultrabase3

I got the X230t & ultrabase3 at a new job I have just started. I am having some issues using these items together. My current set up is the X230T, Ultrabase3, 2 port usb kvm, 2 22" dell monitors (one connected via dvi > dp adapter, the other vga). The biggest issues are I cannot boot the laptop while it is on the dock, if I try it sits at the lenovo splash screen. If I boot it then dock it it works ok. If I undock it to take to a meeting or somewhere else in the office then come back and put it on the dock it will go into a sleep mode (unless I leave the lid open, I have never had to do that to a laptop while on the dock before). I am totally confused by this, I upgraded it to 12gb of ram from the stock 4gb, I removed the 8gb chip I installed thinking it was the problem, but it still happens. Anyone else having an issue like this?
