Difference between T430 and L430

#1 Post by skinnie » Wed Sep 26, 2012 7:10 am

Hi guys,
I am switching from a macbook white (late 2009) to a Lenovo (still deciding between L430,T430 and maybe X230).
I configured both T430 and L430 to similar specs on the site lapstars.com and appart from the backlight keyboard on the T430 (and the option of having a second graphic card) I can't find the differences on the T430 vs L430, can anyone tell me?

The configs are:

L430 i5-3320m 2.6GHz.3.3GHz 3MB L3 -8GB Kingston RAM- Intel HD4000- 1600x900 TFT (matte) - PT -3 year warranty -1074eur

T430 i5-3320m 2.6GHz.3.3GHz 3MB L3 -8GB Kingston RAM- Intel HD4000- 1600x900 TFT (matte) - PT -3 year warranty 1098eur

for a bit more I can have the T430 with nvidia:
T430 i5-3320m 2.6GHz-3.3GHz 3MB L3 -8GB- HD4000+ Nvidia NVS 5400M ( 1600x900matte) - PT -3year warranty 1107eur

and for a bit more with backlight keyboard:

T430 i5-3320m 2.6GHz - 3.3 GHz 3MB L3 -8GB- HD4000+ Nvidia NVS 5400M (matte) - PT Backlight -3 anos garantia 1156eur

it is not a big difference of money between the two cheaper ones, but I'd like to know the differences =)

Thanks

Outside of specs, from then on it's the "ThinkPad bits" that differ between them. The L series has been pushed into the lower end due to its lack of rollcage, lid latches and Ultrabay and if I recall correctly, different construction materials(ABS instead of CFRP). How much these really matter is for you to decide. On a side note, the T430 also looks like it has been ventilation next to the L430 as well.
Personally, I think the little bit extra is probably worth it seeing how it's not much to pay.
