Re: Ultrabay hdd
Did you format the HDD in the Ultrabay?

Re: Ultrabay hdd
It doesn't give me the option to format it. Like I said, it only shows up in device manager I tried the add device wizard and still can't get it to show up in windows, I also tried installing it in a hdd dock on my desktop machine and still same thing, I hear it spinning but it won't show up in the drive menu.

Any chance you can upload a screen shot of what's been seen via the Disk Management snap-in but also via Device Manager as well - in addition to that if you download and install the CrystalDiskInfo utility, does it show the HDD in the 2nd HDD Caddy at all?urbanguy75 wrote:It doesn't give me the option to format it. Re: Ultrabay hdd
Most likely you just need to go into disk management and assign it a drive letter. Hit Winkey+R, type "diskmgmt.msc" without quotes in the run dialog, hit enter. While you're there you can also repartition and format.

Also, If you have a "My Computer" icon on your desktop, you can right click it, select manage, then go to disk management. Chances are, the drive needs to be initialized, which also assigns a drive letter as noted above.

The other method of doing this would be via the command line tool DISKPART, which is ms' abomination of the old FDISK program. I hate DISKPART.
