get 64bit from another drive?

#1 Post by halfcard1 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 9:09 am

i found a used ssd i can buy for my t61.

the ssd is from a dell and has 64bit home premium on it. i presently have 32bit ultimate, regular drive.

besides the ssd, having 64bit would be nice too. is this possible? i hear you can't just swap the drives.

Do you have your W7 Ultimate install disks? You can just do a fresh install using the 64 bit disk. Your T61 would most likely object to running the Dell W7 install, plus you would not have the COA/License for Windows Home Premium.
