T510 long wake-up time after installing a second SSD

#1 Post by ircfas133 » Thu Oct 11, 2012 8:49 pm

Hi, gentlemen:

After I install a Samsung 830 SSD into the Ultrabay and put it in place of the DVD-ROM, I find my laptop takes about 1-2 minutes to wake-up after I put my laptop into stand-by state. Could I ask how to resolve this issue?

I put the same ultrabay into my T430s, and everything works fine. The wake-up is instant, so this rule out it is a problem in the SSD or the Ultrabay. I also installed a SSD in my primary hard drive bay within my T510. I previously tried the same setup with a crucial M4 SSD, the same problem happens... Thanks!

Thanks!

How did you install the OS?

Sounds like an installation issue. In AHCI mode? SSD properly aligned? I know that Ultrabays in T61 are PATA so the PATA to SATA conversion limits the speed to SATA I speed. Also when swapping from one machine type to another, chipset and drivers are an issue. For optimal speed the Intel chipset and rapid store technology should be installed and working properly.

Hi, I get this issue resolved by updating the firmware of the primary SSD from crucial M4. It is now working. It seems there is a power issue. By the way, do you suggest I install all the intel chipset package from lenovo updates? My laptop's are 'clean' installed from scratch using a new Win 7 disc and I only installed some crucial components from the ThinkVantage software such as Power Manager in order to increase speed, etc...

Thanks.
