ati3duag.dll blue screen

#1 Post by mikeh420 » Mon Oct 15, 2012 3:06 pm

I've had my T42 for about 2 years, so far it has worked perfectly. I have a 2373-K3U with Win 7 and 2 GB of RAM. When trying to run anything video intensive, such as Solitaire, viewing a DVD, or even weather.com Desktop Weather, I get a blue screen with ati3duag.dll as the culprit. I have driver version 6.14.10.6547 on a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. I tried Omega's driver and it gave a blue screen on install.

Are there any Windows Vista or Windows 7 drivers for this display adapter, or is there a fix for this?

Thanks

No.

Radeon 7500 is not officially supported by Vista/W7 since it doesn't meet the minimum requirements for running either of these.

There are modded drivers available on the web, but I couldn't vouch for their reliability.

Personally, I'd revert back to XP, but your machine - your call.

I was afraid of that.

I use the T42 for tech support jobs and it's worked so far on Win 7, and it was loaded with 7 when I got it from Craigslist. I guess I've never tried to run Solitaire before this week. Since my desktop is down due to a HDD failure, I am presently using the T42 as a backup.

Are the T60 series rated for Win 7 ?

Thanks ajkula66

Yes. Even higher-end T42 (with Radeon 9600), T42p, T43/p with ATi graphics are.

However, at today's prices a T60 or even an Intel-based T61 will give you more bang for the buck than any T4x.

There are many of us running Win7 successfully on T40-T42 models with ATI 7500 GPUs. I have run with no graphics problems with the driver listed below for 1.5 years with Win7.

You will want to find driver version :
ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)
6.14.10.6606

This driver is hard to find. There are references to this driver in other threads in these forums, but all of the links seem to be dead now. You may be able to find the driver at some of the driver sites where you must sign-up in order to get to the driver downloads. There have also been discussions that the Radeon 9000 driver (still 6.14.10.6606) will also work ... but that might require modifications that I am not knowledgeable of in order to get it installed on a 7500.

The folder that I have kept is approximately 5.85mb. It does not contain an installer and the driver is 'forcibly' installed manually.

That did the trick. It's working perfectly with driver version 6.14.10.6606.

Thanks GACrabill!
