UXGA Inverter FRU compatibility

#1 Post by psirgany » Mon Oct 15, 2012 10:04 pm

I have T60P UXGA with what appears to be a failed inverter. The FRU from the manual is: 42T0079. A bit of googling shows that PN 41W1012 may also be compatible.

Is anyone able to confirm that the alternate PN is correct for the UXGA display? Thanks in advance.

What leads you to believe that the inverter has gone out?

FYI: those numbers are 100% compatible and exchangeable.
Make DARNED sure you get the exact number you order, there are quite a few 'compatibles' around that do NOT work!

In a bright light I can active images on the LCD display but the backlight is out. So... guessing that it is the inverter. Could also be the florescent tube. The backlight works for a few seconds when the T60P is powered up but then goes out.

That sounds like a dying backlight, but swap the inverter anyway, they're not that expensive nowadays

Agreed, the inverter is easy swaptronics.
If it turns out to be the display - do you have any experience with ebay seller bumblesale? I see what reference here in the T4x0 forum, seems positive. Maybe worth replacing the display at the same time? The T60P remains one of my favorite machines!

"We may ship a 100% compatible part"...

To that I'd say "thanks but no thanks"...

If you would consider a new UXGA Flexview screen with LED backlight, PM me.
BTW, where do you live?
