RSS feed is now active

#1 Post by fefrie » Sun Oct 21, 2012 2:46 am

I'd be neat if there was an rss feed.

Some styles have the rss feeds built in.

Maybe you could do a temporary style change, copy the rss feed links then post them?

Most importantly for me would be the marketplace?

Found this thread searching these forums for how to set up an RSS feed. Near as I can tell this has been brought up periodically over the years, this looks like one of the more recent posts.

Setting up an RSS feed from the forums shouldn't be too difficult, perhaps even as simple as a couple settings? Depending on what version of phpBB you are using though, I suppose.

A quick Google search of "rss feed from phpbb forum" turned up this as the first result:
Have you tried the built in ATOM feeds?

admin panel>general>feed settings
If it's not quite that easy, there seem to be a lot of other links in that thread (and in the Google results I found) to further resources...

Just thought I would bring this up again, since the board has been moved recently, and perhaps upgraded a bit? In hopes that this may be a possibility now...?

wordpress is available in cPanel..
but no RSS feed ability or site builder seems to be available in cPanel..
but I thought I saw something about that someplace while moving the forum..

EDIT:YES, the phpBB website has lings and support info for adding an RSS feed..
there seems to be some angst about this RSS feed displaying email address's..
something I don't do on this forum..
but lets see what I can learn over the weekend..

I won't stop wanting to add an RSS feed BUT, like bitcoin, I like to know what i'm doing before I do it..
so it'll take me a while to dig more into it and then try implementing it..

I've never used an rss feed reader before, so how does it work?

Nevermind....I think I've figured it out on my own.

Very cool! I've played around with IFTTT a little, and it's pretty powerful. I was reading about some new tool recently that worked with it to do even more but can't remember what it was. Might have been on Lifehacker that I saw it.
