T400 & Ubuntu 12.10 tuning

Hi, I've just installed the Ubuntu 12.10 to my T400. First thing which I've registerred is that during the display in power save mode (but computers is on) the screen is actually black but the backlight is still powered on. What settings should I change to get the same power saving behavior as in Windows?
Current: T420
Previous: T400, T43p Flexview, T40, R52, T43p 14"
My first ThinkPad was 570
