Whats good registry clean-up software

#1 Post by johnny9fingers » Wed Oct 24, 2012 7:54 pm

I'm guessing a lot of you folks know how to clean and optimise your machines without third party software, but I don't. Is software like "Speedy PC Pro", or "RegZooka" a good way to clean out registry and malware problems? Or is there a solution already loaded in the ThinkVantage Productivity stuff in my T61?

I like ccleaner for cleaning HDD, registry and startup. Malwarebyte is good for malware.

+1 on CCleaner. It's popular and free.

So most of you recommend CCleaner. It's free and it works ... perhaps I ought to use that simple facility?

However, somewhere in my tiny brain there is a neuron nagging me from the past about CCleaner removing registry entries that might be important.

As I have a business I decided to use TuneUp Utilities. I can claim back the cost. That means it's free to me, my wife, and my mother-in-law ... and all legally paid for.

TuneUp has worked with no bad consequences for years. Perhaps I am mad to pay? Can you really get something for nothing? :?

To my knowledge, all such cleaners run that risk. CC, like others too, has the option to backup any changes to a .reg file that can be merged back if something goes wrong.

CCleaner's been fine for me, but really I don't ever bother cleaning the registry. There's very little point.

When it comes to software....sometimes yes. Lots of good freeware, GNU licensed, Andriod, linux, etc out there.
