Does an external monitor work?
Can you go into Safe Mode (hit F8 a few times at boot time) and uninstall the graphics driver?

So the BIOS/boot screen (showing Lenovo ThinkPad blah blah blah) is still there but the screen turns black after Windows is (being) loaded...?
Cheers.

Remove the hard disk, get a USB CD/DVD drive, and see if you can boot from a life Linux CD.
If that also remains 'black', you have damaged your motherboard.
What else did you do that you are NOT telling us, is your Windows legal?
Can you get into the BIOS? (press F1 at boot time).
Try installing another OS.

You can also use unetbootin to install Linux to a USB stick.RealBlackStuff wrote:Remove the hard disk, get a USB CD/DVD drive, and see if you can boot from a life Linux CD.

Thanks for the reply.
My windows 8,7,xp all are original and legal ones. I tried to upgrade to windows 8 by downloading from internet from xp original. It did not happen initially and there was an error, the result of which I was not able to use the laptop. Hence I restored to the factory settings. Subsequently I installed all the SPs of xp and later installed the windows 7 from the CD. After completing the installation also, I tried to download windows 8 and install it. Invariably it took a long time and it did not happen. Then I installed the MS office and all the other softwares, which all are original. Subsequently I downloaded the drivers from Lenovo inorder to match for the tablet features. After downloading, when I tried to restart, it did not happen.
I shall try what you have suggested today and will inform you.
Thanks once again.
