Upgrading IDE drive to SATA on X31?

as i have a spare Samsung 320GB Sata drive was wondering if possible to put it in my X31 who now has an IDE drive.

No, just like that you can't, it's that simple.
The X31 does not have the SATA bridge chip that was put in the T43/R52/X41.

The same can apply to your X31.
