E530 - Keyboard and mouse not functioning after bios update
I have the following problem:
I recently installed windows 8 on my Thinkpad E530. So far no problem.
Today I updated the bios (with the driver from the lenovo site). During the update no problems occurred, only after the reboot the keyboard and mouse pad stopped functioning! (usb mouse and keyboard still function).
How can I fix this?

Re: E530 - Keyboard and mouse not functioning after bios update
Same exact problem with an Edge E530 here...after I installed Windows 8, I downloaded all the drivers-including the BIOS update-installed them and then rebooted. I had to hook up an external mouse and keyboard to use the laptop. At least I can be fairly certain the BIOS update is what caused it. I'm going to do some more searching and see what I can find out.
I lost count...

Re: E530 - Keyboard and mouse not functioning after bios update
An update: I have been trying to roll back the BIOS to an earlier version, but Lenovo's support site is having issues (as usual). It looks like the issue relates to the Synaptics touchpad drivers. Once I uninstalled them, the keyboard and touchpad/trackpoint work again. Of course none of the special features work (like acceleration and scrolling) but it is useable.
It is probably a conflict between the latest BIOS and these drivers. Hopefully there is an older driver that will still work, or they will realize their error and fix it soon.
Another update: I installed the Windows 7 UltraNav driver that was released in September and it works fine.

Had the same problem with this laptop. Uninstalling Synaptics drivers has worked. Thank you!

Had same problem... Please could you notice me when there will be a synaptics for this new bios ? thx
Re: E530 - Keyboard and mouse not functioning after bios update
I have fixed it completely. Even all of specia features and gestures. I have installed synaptics from http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers/ and it works perfect
