X61 deader than a mackerl
X61 deader than a mackerl
Hi,
Yesterday I was connected to a network to remote into our router. I made a few changes then went into the other room. when I came back my X61 was dead. No lights, no ac adapter plugged in light and nothing happens when I press the on/off switch. I was using a genuine lenovo adapter.
any Ideas other than the motherboard gave up? I have tried removing the battery and pressing the power button (no Go) . thought maybe the charging circuit quit so I charged the battery with an external charger (no go). tried two other ac power supplies (nope).
the battery is an aftermarket.
Are there any resets on the board itself? any other ideas?

Remove both power AND battery, then hold down the power-button for about 20-30 seconds.
Reconnect just power to try and boot.
Any LEDs under the LCD showing life?

no joy. there are no lights below the lcd, doesn't even show plugged in.
I didn't take it to work, thought maybe a day of rest would help. That plan didn't work.
Thanks for the suggestion

Have you tried another outlet?
Does anything else in there work (like a lamp)?

Time to take out the multimeter perhaps? If there's a fault with the DC power jack it's actually quite easy to replace.
