New LCD leaks [big pic]

#1 Post by malch » Sun Nov 11, 2012 1:44 pm

So I set up a new UXGA Boe Hydis HV150UX1-101 in a T43p frame and hooked it up to my spare T43p.

Comparing the two screens [the ID Tech and the 101]was interesting.

I thought my stock LCD[ ID Tech] was great until I put the 101 beside it.

The original [ID Tech] now looks "not as white" and slightly grays out on the left and right edges.
I only see these faults with both screens [ ID Tech and 101] side by side.
I dont notice them when looking at the ID Tech screen by itself later in the day.

But the new 101 has a couple of leaks , one at 06h and one at 01h-02h.

Can it be fixed?

No.

Is the original panel ID Tech or Hydis?

I've heard several complaints regarding backlight bleeds/leaks on these -101 panels and am happy that I didn't get one myself...

the 101. seems like a tiny pressure point right at the bottom edge of the screen at 06h.

Impossible.

It's either Hydis -100, or an ID Tech. That's all that one could find on a T43p.

-101 was never offered by Lenovo.

I lost you there...

Let me spell out the question like this:

What is the *original* panel on the T43p, that "doesn't look so white" now?

I get the whole -101 business, as well as the topic that you've linked to and I had participated in.

There's no fix to the issue that you're seeing. Period.

If it bothers you, return the panel.

"What is the *original* panel on the T43p, that "doesn't look so white" now?" == ID Tech

If I were you, I'd:

a) Return the -101 panel

b) Swap the CCFL in the ID Tech (if it's getting very dark in the corners) or

c) Upgrade to LED-lit AFFS panel (which is what I had done on my own T43p)

Good luck.

c:"LED-lit AFFS" Ok, what is the part number you are referring to and I need the pinout

[Dec 1/12] got it:"Successfully installed ultra-cheap Hydis HV150UX2-100 (AFFS LED UXGA)"

a) Why not?

b) See above

c) There is no pinout - you'd have to send your lid to RealBlackStuff, wiring for these LED-lit AFFS panels is utterly custom.

That's sad to hear.

Fair enough. Hang onto that ID Tech then, I saved my original one as well.
c:proprietary then and not repairable or replaceable.
It is both repairable and replaceable, but not by the end user...
