In my T43 I added the BT antenna FRU #91P6897, Clear Plate #26R8409 and the BMDC3 #39T0022.
If you need some new screws order Screw Kit #13R2916.

On my T43, the antenna cable was a thin white coax that ran from the left LCD hinge, across the bottom of the modem/bt card, and then was taped under the modem. No problem.

The part # for the Clear Plate includes a sticker for every current T4x laptop, with every option combination. There are many.

And there is also replacement clear plate for the small power/sleep sticker on the top of the lid -- in the same kit.

Has anyone add the bluetooth antenna, modem CDC and clear plate to a T41 (2378dlu). I would like to add this but want to confirm the fru #s.

Thanks

Internet over cellular. I keep my SonyT610 in my pocket, and my thinkpad hooks up to it, and connects to the net. simple as hell, and there's no extra hardware (like a pcmcia card) cluttering up my puter.

both IBM and Intel would be work. I heard the IBM wireless card is better than 2200 on t42; But i don't know is it still better than 2915 on t43.

Bluetooth Upgrade

#70 Post by Draxy518 » Mon Aug 08, 2005 10:40 am

Hi there,
I have an IBM T42 model # 2373-3XU

My model isn't listed as having the bluetooth antenna, but I do have the white cable labeled BT under my modem daughter card.

Does that mean that I actually do have the antenna or is the cable just there on all models anyway?

Thanks for any help!

I'd imagine the antenna's actually in there.. they're pretty fixed to those wires.. so i doubt they'd lay the wire without the antenna.

only way to confirm is to open it up of course.. but my hunch is yeah.. you're good.

I thought I saw this before (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=14036). Making sure you get an answer :?:
Well, here goes again, not all models come with the antenna but since you have it you just need to change the Modem Daughter Card to one with BT and you're off to the races! :D

CDC3 card not available !!!

#78 Post by redrock » Tue Aug 30, 2005 2:09 pm

I ordered the following from Parts web on Aug. 8th for my T43. The I got the screw kit and plate kit in a day or two. The CDC3 card was then backordered.

1 13R2916 SCREW KIT FRU
1 39T0022 CDC BLUETOOTH/MODEM COMBO 3
1 26R8409 CLEAR PLATE KIT FRU

So almost 3 weeks later I decided to call into IBM parts to see what happened with the B/O. They indicate that that part is no longer available and that they had tried to contact me (not true BTW). I asked them to send me an email indicating that and what the replacement part is ?

Does this make sense to anyone.

thanks...

0022 EOL... replacement is 0024

#79 Post by redrock » Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:18 pm

IBM Parts never called me back I had to call back into them.
They indicated that 39T0022 is out of production and the replacement is 00024. However the description is exactly the same. Anyone know which should be the right one for my T43. Also other than the +$20 any difference between these two parts ?

39T0022 HERMES BLUETOOTH AND MODEM WIRELESS COMBO CARD FRU $37.50

39T0024 HERMES BLUETOOTH AND MODEM WIRELESS COMBO CARD FRU $57.50

thanks;

HELP - Neither 39T0022 nor 39T0024 are available from Lenovo

#82 Post by smkiat » Mon Sep 12, 2005 2:09 pm

Hi,

I just found this forum after acquiring a T43 about 4 months ago. At the time I could not find a configuration with the Bluetooth and a 7200 RPM Hard Drive. Figuring upgrading the hard drive is a no-brainer for me I bit the bullet and ordered one with what I was after but without Bluetooth and with the plan to upgrade the Hard Drive.

I found this thread and was delighted to see there is a way to add the Bluetooth. I checked and found the antenna is in place in my unit (2687D4U). I managed to finally find the proper Lenovo/IBM site to order parts. When I tried to order the Clear Plate (26R8409) and CDC (39T0022). The order site listed the Clear Plate as Available under status but the status for the CDC was Call. I also tried the 39T0024 which can be substituted according to tech support but its status is Call as well. I called this morning and was told they have neither one in stock and no ETA for receiving additional 39T0022s or 39T0024s.

Some third party sites I Googled up are offering the 39T0022 for $157.00 which seems rapacious considering the $37.50 price on the Lenovo/IBM site.

So the question is, does anyone here know of a supplier that offers more reasonable pricing for Thinkpad parts than what I've seen so far. I know a third party will be more than $37.50 but $157.00 is over the top.

Does the T41 2373-7JM have an antenna ?

There are 2 or 3 Modem + Bluetooth combo cards. What is the one to get ?

I just ordered the bluetooth card.

39T0026 HERMES BLUETOOTH AND MODEM WIRELESS COMBO $46.00
26R8409 CLEAR PLATE KIT FRU $7.06

The 39T0026 is the replacement part for 39T0022, and tech support verified it was compatible with my T43. Just so you know, there is a flat shipping charge of $13.50 so you might as well get both parts now. They're both in stock.

With shipping and tax the total for me was $69.89. Definately a lot more than the $15 I paid for a USB Bluetooth key, but hopefully worth it.

Now 39T0026 is $50.00 and 39T0022 is still $37.50, but neither of them is in stock.. Too bad

Do they have the same quality? I'll probably not ask for a replacement.

Btw, what's the Clear Plate Kit?

Does it come with 2 screws?

I still don't know if my 2686-M5U has a bluetooth antenna, it came out pretty late.. How can I make sure of it?

Thanks!

Thanks dtakias. I just ordered so I will check when I get it. The funny thing is when I ordered there were not any options to add it in the build.
