What's wrong with this Flexview?

#1 Post by BruceDickinson » Tue Nov 13, 2012 6:35 pm

Just in case the answer isn't, "It's just old"...

There's a lot of cloudiness (aka "mura" I think) on this Flexview. I'm wondering about the cause and whether anything can be done to fix the cloudiness. (...Like maybe--I know this is a longshot--replace the inverter or cable.) FWIW, flexing the LCD assembly moves the brighter spots around a bit.

Thank you (esp. to RBS who always comes through) for your help.

Cloudiness...here and there - not that there's anything you can do about it - but those dust specs would bug the living daylight out of me.

Time for a new screen, if you ask me.

Good luck.

I know what you mean about the dust specs, George, but I've somehow learned to live with them. The cloudiness is a recent development that I find more annoying because it covers the whole screen and is really noticeable in person.

I sure wish this LCD had started going bad before I decided to replace the mobo. I used to have a nice screen with a flaky mobo; now I have a solid mobo with a cloudy screen. Boy are these fixes self-perpetuating.

If you are interested, I still have 1 or 2 SXGA+ FlexView screens left: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=105469
Or if you want bright, and I mean REALLY bright, I also sell UXGA Flexview screens with LED-backlight.
Check the SuperFrankie link in my signature. They also work in a 15" T60/T60p.
