Possible IPS screen in 14'' T43p?
Possible IPS screen in 14'' T43p?
Hi all!
Recently I've been wondering if there's a special reason for why my T43p's 14'' screen is so incredibly bright and wideangle-viewable
As far as I know, and as far as I've been told (...), only the 15'' versions can have an IPS or FlexView display, but still, I'm not totally convinced.
I made this video which should give an idea of it (32MB @720p):

Thanks!
Regards, Frederik.

Whether you're convinced or not, there were *never* any 14" IPS panels available. Period.
If you were to put that screen next to a well-kept IPS/AFFS one you'd understand the difference...

Re: Possible IPS screen in 14'' T43p?
As per George's post above - AFAIK, 14.1" 4:3 IPS panels have never surfaced - BOE-hydis did plan a 14.1" IPS panel (HV141P01) around 2005 - A few years ago I contacted them directly to confirm if samples/small runs were made at that time, to which they replied none were produced.
If you are interested as to who is the manufacturer of your panel - run an "audit" utility software like PC-Wizard to confirm etc.

Here's the stuff I got from PC-Wizard, didn't really help me alot on the display information though. :/

Re: Possible IPS screen in 14'' T43p?
Find a 15" T4x machine with bad mobo and/or bad/broken LCD. Transfer your 14.1" innards to the 15" base.
If you then send me the 15" T4x lid with an UXGA LCD-cable and UXGA inverter (and without LCD), I can put in a brand new 15" AFFS IPS Flexview screen with ex-factory LED backlight and UXGA resolution (1600x1200).
THEN you will be talking BRIGHT!

Re: Possible IPS screen in 14'' T43p?
Brightness has nothing to do with IPS or not. In your video, around 2:10, when the screen is viewed from below, it darkens visibly and the colors get distorted. This is a TN panel, not an IPS.Cola wrote:Recently I've been wondering if there's a special reason for why my T43p's 14'' screen is so incredibly bright and wideangle-viewable
As was said, there were never any 14" 4:3 IPS panels produced. At least none that anyone here heard of.
