Best Windows 7 tools to manage Eriksson F3507g on X61
Best Windows 7 tools to manage Eriksson F3507g on X61
I have an Eriksson F3507g in my X61s. It works as long as pin 20 is taped, so it's not controlled by the hardware switch or Fn+F5. On top of that Lenovo Access Connections doesn't work with it either.
Could anyone recommend some Windows 7 software for using the card? I want to be able to turn it on and off easily, use GPS, and send SMSs.
Thanks for any help!

If I remember correctly there is a BIOS for that model which removes the whitelist. It should allow you to use it without the pin 20 being tapped.
As for the software, I don't think it's machine specific so your issue but lie elsewhere.

Maybe, but I have installed an SXGA+ screen so I need to use Middleton's bios.mikemex wrote:If I remember correctly there is a BIOS for that model which removes the whitelist. It should allow you to use it without the pin 20 being tapped.
I'm not asking for a solution to a problem, just for recommendations...mikemex wrote:As for the software, I don't think it's machine specific so your issue but lie elsewhere.

Do you got the card working in Windows7 at all? and if, how?
i have 12.3G_ERICSSON_F3307_Driver_v6.1.23.103_Win7_WHQL(QS4.11_20100603).zip. (i don't recommend downloading it from driveragent.com) However i rarely sit in windows at all.
What you probably need to turn the device off and on is a program called hyperterminal which connects to the serial port of the modem. in it you can write something like AT+CFUN=0. This will completly shut your 3g modem off. It won't be listed as hardware at all and Windows will not list it all in any device manager, and there's no guareentes at all that it comes back after a reboot either. Play safe. I have a X61s myself with a f3507g. The only solution for me is to suspend the machine or shutdown to get the card going again after a manual shutdown of the card with AT+CFUN=0
It's a bit tricky with these cards hence they need to be shut down on every startup or when it comes back from suspend/hibernation.

I use F3507g with W7 and I used drivers that allow to use the W7 integrated network control (it makes a "Mobile Broadband Connection" to the network connection list, just like a regular wifi one).
When I was researching the best options how to get it working, I found the correct drivers. GPS is linked to Control Panel -Location and Other Sensors and it reqognizes F3507g without problems.

Re: Best Windows 7 tools to manage Eriksson F3507g on X61
The integrated W7 control works pretty well; in fact my only real problem is having to send AT commands from HyperTerminal or Putty to turn the card on and off. It doesn't bug me so much in Linux, though admittedly it's easier to script. Maybe powershell or autokey might help.
Thanks anyway.

I have usually just disabled the WWAN adapter from device manager, don't htis work as well? It is sure much easier than sending AT commands.
What bugs me is that I cannot choose the protocol to use by the F3507g, e.g. I want it to use 3G instead of GPRS or EDGE.

Re: Best Windows 7 tools to manage Eriksson F3507g on X61
you can force the modem with either AT+CFUN=5 or AT+CFUN=6 which force either gprs or 3g (umts) i have no idea in what particular order these command use, and i have no idea to use hyperterminal or putty. but previous posters probably know,
