USB ports not working on R50e.

Hi there sorry to trouble you guys again but I need some help. My in-built USB ports on the IBM ThinkPad R50e have stopped working after a restart from a Windows update a couple of months ago. I have tried to reformat and all sorts but to no avail.

Could anyone guide me as to what might be the problem?

Boot from a "live" Linux CD.

If the ports are not working there, it's a hardware malfunction.

If they are, there's a driver problem within Windows.
