T20 LCD problem?

#1 Post by dustan » Sat Apr 30, 2005 1:22 pm

I bought a fix-er-up off of ebay and am having problems troubleshooting an LCD problem.

The 700Mhz model that I have came with a 14" XGA LCD and more times than not I have areas of my LCD that have lines. These lines to not go across the entire screen, only in places, they are white, but do not show up at any other time except for GUI mode, not in "DOS" mode. One line at times starts from the tip of my mouse pointer and heads righ about 2 inches and follows the mouse pointer as I move it.

It has functioned a couple of times without this problem. I was thinking that the cable might have been pinched, damaged or just loose. I checked the connectivity, did not solve the problem. And I bought a replacement cable. Same.

I have been searching the net for possible answers, but this seems to be unique.

External monitor is fine so I ruled out the Onboard graphics.

Any chance this might be an inverter card problem, or any other ideas?

Thanks for your help

Update

I left this laptop on while hooked up to the AC adapter for the most part of the day yesterday. When I came back to it, the lines were gone
I unplugged it, still good, closed it up and took it upstairs, and when it opened. No lines.

I really don't think this is an LCD problem, anyone have any clue whatsoever?

It is the LCD.

(Gently) flex the LCD a little and they will likely come and go.
