Suggest power manager installed for Win8 on X301

#1 Post by phil81uk » Thu Dec 13, 2012 7:02 am

First day of using Windows 8 on my X301 while out on the job. All works great, except..... it looks to be consuming twice the power. I haven't done any measurements so I can't say exactly, but I've been sitting in my usual location doing my usual work and I'm on 30% power, where I'd normally still be on 60% around now.

I have no power management tools installed as Lenovo don't list any for Windows 8 for this machine.

Any suggestions for what to install?

Did you try the 'Change PC settings' (I think it's called) in the right side shut down slide out pane?
There are many items in there including a somewhat rudimentary Win 8 power manager.

My X200T seems to last a long time, using the basic laptop settings, even with a 4 cell battery.
Until Lenovo gets it's act together with Win 8 software and drivers I think we are perhaps better
off using the features in Win 8 settings.

Sorry I wrote my reply without having Win 8 available. Click on the Windows key + X and choose
power options.
