30 day standby?

#1 Post by wkw » Fri Dec 14, 2012 6:57 pm

So, I have 30 day standby enabled.
My T530 was on standby for about a week, from 100% charge

Seven days, and it is down to 50% charge...
Is this normal? :I

On standby that's normal as everything is suspended to RAM. If I know I won't be using a machine for more than a few days, I'd just turn it off. All my rig is running a SSD which boots really fast so it's no big deal.

Still, with a feature called 30-day standby... one would expect it to last more then two weeks.

I've a feeling the t530 isn't very efficient when it is in sleep mode. It uses a far larger percentage of power than any other laptop I have in sleep

My T61 with a HDD in the Ultrabay is even worse. Most laptop I've ever owned would only last a week or two on standby mode. Hibernation is a different story. I don't use hibernation anymore since I've switched to SSDs. Standby if I know that I'll use the laptop in a day or two otherwise I just shut it off.
