Tablet virtual keyboard gone?

#1 Post by tim S » Sun Dec 16, 2012 9:48 am

I just noticed that the pop out keyboard in other versions of windws is no
longer on the side of the screen. There is the touch keyboard on the taskbar but
am I correct in that the pop out version isn't supported in Win 8?
If that's the case I have found some aftermarket keyboards that kind of do the
same thing but none of them can be docked with just the edge of the keyboard
along the side of the screen ready to go.

I'm just curious. Why would you want the old pop out keyboard, to turn script into text?
First Thinkpad 755CX in 1995. First IBM: PC 1982 8088 w 64K RAM, dual floppy. Currently in use:
X230T with Win8Pro x64, i7, 500gb ssd; W700 WUXGA RAID 1 Blu-Ray W7Pro x64, occasionally a T61p with Win7Pro x64

When used in tablet form, the pop out keyboard was always and easily accessable.
But regardless, is that style of keyboard on longer supported in Win 8?
