X201 with Docking Station - two screens?

#1 Post by sencoj » Tue Dec 18, 2012 12:24 am

Hello everyone!

I got an X201 with a docking station and two Dell S2340L screens which I would like to connect.

The Dell displays have one HDMI port and one VGA port each. The notebook has one VGA out only, but the Docking station has one DisplayPort and one VGA.

HDMA and DisplayPort equipment is quite difficult to acquire at my current destination so I would like to do the cheap alternative of connecting
Notebook VGA port -> Screen 1 VGA port
Docking station VGA port -> Screen 2 VGA port

Would that be possible?

Best

When docked the laptop's own VGA gets disabled. So what suggest is not possible.

Thanks a lot.

I will obviously need to go with DP ->DP/HDMI adapter -> HDMI then.
