ATI 32MB 7500 vs ATI 64MB 9600

#1 Post by baldyguy » Sun May 01, 2005 1:13 am

HI everyone,

I just received my T42 laptop, and I had a question about the integrated video cards.

When comparing the 7500 vs the 9600, does it really make much of a difference? I hear that it's better to get the 9600 for longhorn, but that's about it. I hear some people can play games on the 7500.

Should I return the thinkpad that I got and get a TP with a 9600 instead?

The thinkpad that I purchased last week was the EPP deal that was $1,099. It has 256MB of memory in which I'm going to upgrade to 1GB and get rid of the 256 stick.

It depends on what you use it for. Unless you play FPS games, the 7500 does the job just fine. Also, don't even bother about Longhorn, it will be long before you see it out, and by then it will be so crippled you won't want to change from your current Windows version. Your price looks very nice, I would personally keep it unless there is a similarly good offer on a 9600 T42. Mind you, all 9600 T42s come with SXGA+ screen, so you have to take that into account.
