End of the World...

#1 Post by TuuS » Thu Dec 20, 2012 5:59 am

As I prepare to embark on a long overdue and well deserved vacation, I realized that I'm leaving on 12-21-2012, which is the last day of the world according to the Mayan calender. I can't believe I'm going to miss it!!! I must have been brain dead when I scheduled this trip, after all, how often does the "end of the world" happen, and I have to be out of town on that day...

Oh well, tickets are non-refundable, so if anyone would be kind enough to take some pictures, I'd be grateful.

ps. I have a feeling it won't be any more exciting then an eclipse or a comet, you get up, look at the sky and say "there it is"... then go back to the TV. I suspect this will be a similar event.

Merry Christmas and Happy Armageddon :)

Actually that was my solution of choice at one time, but then Nancy Reagan had to go tell me to "Just Say No"...

Besides, none of my chill pills were dated 12/21, for some reason they were all dated 7/14... not sure why :??:

7/14 is my wedding day! (and no, that was NOT the end of the world for me!)
We always celebrate it with about 65 million other people (French Bastille Day, quatorze juillet)
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Our company's X-Mas party is on 21.12! Motto should be the "End of the world" party! :santa:

But I think I will behave, there's still the 0.001% possibility that the world won't go bust

45 minutes to go (GMT+1). I'm quakin' in me boots...

A friend of mine just said the following highly intellectual comment, translated, "Lets f*ck some booze and drink some b*tches!" Yes, the stupid twit is already completely wasted. Something tells me we'll have a baby boom in 2013, at least with that attitude...

You'll need to quake a while longer.

The prediction is related to the (Southern hemisphere summer) Solitice, which does not technically occur until 11:12 hours (UTC), by which time I plan to be asleep in my UTC+11 time zone, so will check on the result in the morning

Hmm, indeed. Imagine waking up in the morning and realizing the world ended during the night... Horrible thought, just horrible...

If it is as much piffle and balderdash as all the previous forecasts of the end of the world then it will all pass like a f@rt in a colander.

If not then who cares.

AFAIK, the Mayan calendar for this cycle is ending. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world. If the Mayans were as powerful as they once were a new calendar would be created. Just like when I run out of battery juice on my TP. It doesn't mean the TP is junk. Just need a recharge. Of course those who stand to benefit and gain from fear and chaos would tell you the sky is falling.

Nah, he's Russian. That stuff barely affects him...

On a more interesting note, as the minutes start ticking down, I have readied myself for the zombie apocalypse. 2 very sharp blades and my trusty air rifle that has been modified to fire shotgun shells. My armoured dodge truck (Love you, California DoT!) is fueled and ready to rumble.
(Firing mechanism not photographed for security reasons.)

Why not just buy the real thing? A decent shotgun can be had for 200 or 300 bucks.

Stockholm is pretty lawless, but not that lawless. Besides, its more fun to build stuff. This is one has an extremely primitive design, then again, it took me less than 30 minutes to build.

I have a few guns back home though. Eastern Europe is flooded with old Soviet weapons... But here in Sweden, nah, too much of a hassle going though my shady contacts... And getting them legally is more or less impossible.

Lol, no worries. The car once belonged to the California Department of Transportation. I've barely stepped foot on US soil. Spent maybe 10 hours in the US, and even that's a stretch.

Lol, why not? You're welcome to come. Sweden is nice this time a year. But a heads up, we're the exact opposite of the US. We have socialized medicine, we don't have guns, drive small cars and oh the horror gays have equal rights. Basically everything that's turning the US into a sh*t throwing contest. I really do believe that someone should just lock your politicians in a small dark room and keep them there as punishment until they learn to get along.... Like children, the lot of them....

It's already been confirmed that the 'new end of the world' is going to be on January 1st 2017 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -cult.html

So there's still just over 4 years to live. :)
