New T43 2687DDU

#1 Post by maloosik » Sun May 01, 2005 2:36 pm

Got my T43, shipping took about a week, I posted earlier about why I ordered this machine, maybe it's overkill, but I want a reliable computer that was light and had a good screen. Enough said.

The fan issue is not really an issue, yes it is loud for about 10 secs, then slows down. Runs most of the time at a reasonable level of noise when the wireless is up.

At school, with the screen dimmed, it lasts about three hours while running word and excel. Perfect for what I wanted.

I took some pics but have no place to host them.

I got the 2687DDU, 15" SXGA, 512 DDRII 4200, 60Gb 5400 Hdd, Multi-burner, and the $49.00 mini-dock.

It wasn't cheap but I think still a good deal from the IBM website. Glad I didn't get a powerbook instead.

All of my video and pictures are easily manageable, I think apple's are overrated for this.

The unit is really a joy to type on, and the screen is very bright.

I also got a Dakine 101 backpack which fits the thinkpad in a padded separate pocket and allows my school texts to fit as well. This is an awesome way to carry as I believe the computer is less prone to smacking something while on the middle of my back versus on the side of my body slung over my shoulder. I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag that I originally thought that I could use to carry everything but there is not enough room in it and organization is lacking.

I'd like to get a sleeve as well, but all of the sizes are too small or too big, I'd like a tight ftting sleeve that will still allow me to fit it into the backpack sleeve, the corners are left unprotected in the bag. The Shinza zeroshock is seemingly just what I want but too small to fit the 13"x10.4"x1.5" dimensions of my thinkpad. Any chance somebody has a 15" T43 with a sleeve that fits??

If someone can tell me where to post images, I'll do it.

Good forum

I think you can get free photo hosting at ofoto.com. I've never used it though just heard about it...

photobucket.com works to I heard...agian I've never used it...

you're so lucky it only took a week to get to you...haha, waiting for my laptops seems like forever even though it's only been a week so far...

have you checked out the booq sleeves?? those look pretty cool...I want to get one for my thinkpad once it comes in...as for the bag how well does it work? is it comfy? I have the ProII snowboarding pack which I was planning on using and just using a sleeve for protection for it...but, if they have a bag made for laptops I'd rather go that way...any info about the bag would be great.
