T43 XP pro with SP1 installation disk

#1 Post by doktorkoo » Sun Dec 30, 2012 8:09 am

so I got my HD working, and ran into the next problem: I don't have the original XP Pro disk for T43, I only have a normal XP Pro disk, and the product key is not accepted with this disk. I have the original sticker in the bottom of T43, and the original HD is installed with this key.

So I would need a copy of the original t43 disk image with SP1... can anyone share it e.g. via Dropbox or so?

Thanks in advance!

I have had success using the Microsoft Windows activation phone number, and give the key from the T43 and they will activate you.

the problem is not with the activation.... during the installation it asks the product key for the 1st time, and my key is not accepted.

in this phase:

I read "in the internet" that the installation disk must be exactly the one the Key is linked to. So if it is a key to a T43-specific disk, you must use that disk. Correct me if I (or the internet) am wrong :)

You need either an OEM XP disk, or the T43 recovery set. BTW, does your T43 have ATI or Intel graphics?
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

ATI Mobility Radeon X300
The whole type of my T43 is 2668-44G

So the OEM disk is the same, independent of the manufacturer?

If you are using an XP retail disk to install, put in the key from the disk while installing. Then once you get up and running, you can activate with the MS phone number to the key on the laptop. It may ask you to activate online immediately while installing, just tell it you will activate later.

If you have a T43 disk set, it will not ask for a key. You could post a wanted ad in the Marketplace and could possibly source it that way.

Yes. Or just do as mpcook says above with the disk you already have. Check your PM.

One thing to try if you can do it, is slipstream SP3 with the installation media. It will allow you to install without a key.

Plus then you don't have to do the update later and trash the HDD with junk. Will be a little quicker I believe :)

I tried to slipstream SP3, still asking the product key. Tried with the retail disk, the key for that was not accepted.

Only OEM-image I could find was named Dell, and that gives me a fatal error...
Setup log:

"Error: Signature for win XP Pro Setup is in´valid. The error code is 800b0100. No signature was present in the subject.

Fatal error:Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error: The setup log files should contain more information"

Next advice pls? Or the T43 ISO-file....?

I haven't installed XP in a few years, so I don't remember if it works the same as Vista/W7 -- when you boot with retail disk and are asked for key, does it give the option to continue without filling in the key code?

Seems like a poorly burned disc. Try burning the iso at the slowest possible speed, and see if that helps.

I have an XP setup disc that has worked with all the COA codes that I have tried, including the dozens of Thinkpads that I used to have. I would be happy to upload an ISO of this disc for you, for free, if you can tell me where to upload it to. Too bad megaupload.com is gone.

But I would still like a copy of your ISO, I will PM you when I can fix the place

Why depend on any single point-of-failure Web site? The Internet BitTorrent with distributed hash table delivers twenty-four/seven.

Dell OEM is ever popular. Their XP Professional with Service Pack 3 EN with Intel AHCI drivers, went gold in 2009-02-14, and has been in file-sharing circulation since at least 2009-10-02. Distributed far-and-wide at high speeds, use Kythorne's infohash, 18FC1D4779226972227F00512742CB63257CC81C.
