0109 Critical battery error ??

#1 Post by oldlock » Fri Jan 11, 2013 2:06 am

Brand new X230 (2 days old) Been using the laptop fine yesterday, internal battery drained to 0 %. Slice battery showing 87 % no issues.

Shutdown the laptop. however upon attempting to reboot the error presented and the machine would not boot until AC power connected. Upon boot up checked battery capacity and slice showing 87 % still. Once booted I was able to remove external AC and the machine continued to work quite happily in the external battery.

All updates installed - so how to deal with this ? Is it a firmware issue of some kind ?

Battery management driver update since my post.

Made no difference though.

Solved. not sure how or why but the lock switch (which is meant to be automatic) was not engaged. With more than a little fiddling I got it to the locked position and then the machine would boot when the primary battery is flat.
