This was one of my personal projects last year that I got completely up and running and now ready to move on since I’m under a bit of an avalanche of machines!
It was originally a Type 9450-D9U, configured as follows:
T7200(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 128MB ATI Radeon X1400, CDRW/DVDRW, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro
I’m selling it configured back to the way I got it with these changes:
Celeron M420, NO HDD, CD-ROM, NO WiFi adapter
Here’s the back-story. I picked it up from a fellow forum member is a partially working project. It came as you see just above but the screen only showed an image on the top 2/3rds. At one point, I had replaced, the screen, and the processor with a T7200, 4Gb of RAM, 128Gb SSD and it was pretty darned fast on Windows 7!
The machine is in pretty nice condition although the bottom has a small (about ¾” crack from the battery latch, in), the lid is in good, not great condition with some smudges on either side, and two small dings, but no oxidation to speak of. The 6c battery is basically a placeholder that will only last about 5 minutes. The keyboard is shiny, but the rest of the plastics are in nice condition. This is one of the rare ones that has the webcam, and of course theTi lid. The replacement screen I got for it is really nice.
Here are the few caveats. The BIOS is locked. I got it knowing that it was like that and never presented an issue. The internal WiFi won’t work. I’ve tried about everything and I just can’t get it going. I don’t know if there’s something in the BIOS that has it disabled maybe. Could be since it doesn’t make sense, because I bought two B/G/N cards, put one in my wife’s Z61m and the other in this machine. Hers’ worked great, this one won’t work at all. I even switched them out and still didn’t go. Not a software issue though since I hooked up a D-Link USB “N” adapter and that works fine.
If you are interested, and have questions, please feel free to message me on this. If you need it configured differently such as adding parts, let me know and we can discuss that. The pictures I have of it are kind of big since, so if you want any, message me with an email address that I can take a bigger file attachments. The price includes shipping in CONUS.
