Thinkpad Dock DVI and IBM Drivers (T42p)

#1 Post by jimg72 » Mon May 02, 2005 9:01 am

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge by now since I'm not reading the forums as much as I used to but here goes...

Last night I decided to try the latest ThinkPad video drivers rec'd by the software installer and my DVI is working fine at 1600x1200. The driver version is showing up as 8.102.1-050224m-021425C-IBM. Before now I'd always used the DNA drivers to enable 16x12 DVI.

It looks great, not sure if I'm just so happy the default drivers are working or not but the lcd seems to be better looking also with these instead of the DNA. Probably just me!

Great news. I'll change it in our FAQ.

I have dumped the modded ATI drivers in favor of the latest IBM drivers as well. I am running 1920x1200 on DVI and have done 1600x1200 as well.

Thanks jimg72

I just did it for my T41P and IBM external LP200 monitor. I can not believe the difference between the VGA and DVI (My eyes can't believe it either!)

if I have a T42-FVU and a dock will I be able to use DVI?? I read somewhere else that even though it's on the dock that doesn't mean it will work with the system...

Wow, does that mean we can remove the DNA or ATI hack that has been used for the past year or so, to enable 1600x via DVI, with T40-42 range?

I have a feeling, that the driver interface is what causes the standby powerdrain.
