Any such thing as a docking station battery?

#1 Post by sona1111 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 9:54 pm

Hello, i have a "new" (i assume from china or not the best quality but still new) main 9 cell and cd drive battery for my thinkpad t60. Running under low cpu load with wifi and near the top of the brightness, i get about 2 hours or a little less. This is a bit low for college classes i have started taking. Is their any type of battery that can be put under the computer in the docking station port or another way to get more battery capacity? any mods known?

thanks.

What shape are the batteries in? You can find out in Power Manager. Check the cycle count and remaining wattage. My old 14" R60 with the nine-cell and modular batteries went about six hours at half brightness and WiFi on as I recall. Two seems a bit low.

You can turn down the brightness. You can get a battery for the Ultrabay. Or better yet, shut off the computer and take real notes with a pen & paper. 8)

thank you for the replies, i am guessing what i am looking for does not exist. Two hours seemed a bti low to me as well. The laptop runs ubuntu 12.10, you would not happen to know where to check their state in there, right? They were "brand new" but from ebay, not genuine. If i could get it to three hours i would be happy.

also, i have no problem using pen and paper, i am not surfing the web or anything during class but i write VERY SLOWLY and i can type much faster, so thats why i would like to get this working.

If you get 2 main batteries and 2 ultrabay batteries, you can swap them one at a time.

Is there no possibility of sitting against a wall with a power source?
