T42 bios with no white list

Hello,

To work with a new wireless card, I have been searching desperately a working bios with no white list for my T42p since a few days.

I have found and tried to flash "Lenovo Thinkpad T42_3.23 (1RETDRWW)-1ruj37us_Len21", but I got an error "checksum is not zero" or something like that. I have tried "T42-SLIC2.1_7U_no_1802", but it did not work either. Maybe the files I downloaded are corrupted...

Could someone please help me find a working bios with no white list for my T42p?

As I don't want to remove my new wireless card and apply a no-1802 every time CMOS battery dies (I know this will not happen often, but..), I would prefer a modified bios as a solution, if possible.

CMOS batteries last for 5 years or more.
Why don't you put in a fresh battery when you remove the wifi card to apply the NO-1802 hack?
Also, there are no T42 BIOS versions with Whitelists removed, because the NO-1802 is so easy and universal.

That is correct. Not a big deal in the least, IMO. A CMOS battery lasts about five years on average, at least in the ThinkPads that I've owned.

I'm not aware of a modded BIOS for T42...

You can open up the machine, remove the card, flash the "no-1802" prior to putting anything back and then re-assemble it once the card is verified working.

Not for nothing - and this comes from someone who is a huge T4x series buff - how many cards do you expect to swap over the remaining life of that T42? One "no-1802" flash covers all and any "non-approved" cards...

Thank you for your comments about no1802. I will not probably need to apply no1802 again in the remaining life of my T42p.

However, I have done a lot of searches and it seems that there was a modified bios from TTAV134 including no1802 some time ago, but all the links I have found up to now are not valid anymore. So, I am still looking for this modified bios.

By the way, I am using a modified bios from TTAV134 for my T43p with a third-party wireless card, and everything works as it should. This gave me an idea that if I could find a modified bios for my T42p, that will be the best solution.

You're correct, mate. I accidentally flashed a T43p bios on a T42p board and it pretty much bricked it. I'm pretty [censored] sure I didn't screw up, so its seems they're incompatible.

3to4: no-1802 is stupidly easy to run. The only reason for not running it is lazyness. It took me five minutes including downloading and burning the disc when i swapped the mobo on my frankenpad. Also, my T42 was manufactured in 2003 (unless i'm reading this bloody US dating system wrong) and its still running the original factory cmos battery. So it wasn't used for like five years, but whatever. You probably won't have to worry about it for a while.

Also, if RBS and ajkula66 says there is no bios, then there is no bios. You seem to be an old poster so I'm surprised you haven't picked up on this, but we have a few posters here, ajkula66 and RBS being two of them, whose word is considered law.

But I prefer by far the permanent solution of flashing a modified bios.

If I may ask, what kind of prehistoric rock did you find it under? Cause I've been looking for modified bios for the better part of four years and I've found nothing, nil, nowt, zilch. And lemme tell ya, my google-fu is pretty strong. But alright, I can admit when I'm wrong. Pleasant surprise too.

God, that was totally not my intention. I tracked down posts regarding modded bioses from back in 2004. And considering how fast the internet evolves, thats prehistoric. Had nothing to do with age. Well, registration date maybe.
