Maybe you can help me with an issue. Here's the short version of the background:

I was able to acquire one quite inexpensively due to the seller's unwillingness to ship and the gas cylinder being out.
I ordered a new cylinder and after the arrival of the chair proceeded to take it apart and replace the old with the new.
It turned out that it was so completely stuck that I (and several friends) were unable to remove it, but in the process of working on it, I also broken the actuation mechanism as well.
After several months of inactivity and trying other methods, I finally was able to remove what was left of the old cylinder. Then I ordered a new actuation mechanism.
It arrived yesterday and for the life of me, I can't remember how it was attached inside the mount so that when used, it was push down on the top of the cylinder. But of course, it's been some time and I don't remember, nor can I find an image or diagram showing it online either.

If you've worked on yours, would you be able to tell me how that actuation piece is held in place inside the mount of the chair? I'd certainly appreciate any pointers that you might be able to give.

that is a good question, which i can not readily answer, since the chairs were delivered by the supplier and assembly was done by them. Also i am overseas right now, i can not look at the chairs for you. Have you tried Herman Miller CS and get them to send over the CAD diagrams of the chair?

No. So far, I've stuck to trying to find a photo or a diagram online. There was one person who was describing another repair procedure who had a photograph that was close, but not quite what I needed. Contacting Herman Miller is my next objective. I just thought I'd try here first.

Thanks, anyway.

this video from youtube will help with your gas cylinder

I'm looking for the spring inside the base that resists the chair when you lean back, need a place to purchase that.
