IBM ThinkPad R60 SSD not reading for Windows

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Mon Jan 28, 2013 1:21 pm

I got a new SAMSUNG SSD 16GB hard drive for my R60 and trying to install Windows XP Pro on it but when the CD finishes to the blue screen I get this: Setup did not find any Hard disk drives installed in your computer. I ran the HDD diagnostic program and it reads the SSD. I tryed XP home and 2000 Pro aswell. same thing.

Did you set compatibility mode in the BIOS?

Check SATA settings in the BIOS. It should be compatibility mode instead of AHCI.

It's possible to install it in AHCI mode if you have a floppy drive. You have to load the driver at the beginning of the installation (pressing F6) as it was a RAID device.

I got Windows XP installed and everything seems ok, but It seemed to freeze sometimes. Mostly when I installed a new device such as a flash drive or PCMICA card. I did notice that when I put presure on the bottom side of the touchpad the screen out go black and nothing. So not sure whats under the touchpad. I remember the mini PCI WiFi card being there on the T40 models. Im guessing its touching something.

The RAM slots are under the touchpad on these, aren't they?
