Tempo gave up on the x41 SSD mod idea and my faithful T42 is aging, so I got an x201 i5 with Intel 160 SSD, 4gB. It is quite faster, but I am on the Win7 Pro learning curve.
Most use is at home so the smallish HD is mnot much issue with a network drive.
I have both the Maint, Manual and the Trouble guide, but is there no User's Manual?
Thx, in advance.
I may return to the SSD mod later for a car computer.

do you need a user's manual? a laptop isn't that much different than a desktop in many respects. was there something specific to operations on a laptop [or thinkpad] that you needed answers for?
reading your post, it seems like a win7 book might be the most help.
