Linux on a IBM T20 laptop atheros ethernet internal card?
Linux on a IBM T20 laptop atheros ethernet internal card?
Hello
I'm trying to find a out of the box working linux distribution that works with the internal network card in a T20 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and tried 5.04, 8.04, 9.04 and some other distros as well. No one can find the internal network card..!
lspci lists it as an atheros ethernet card and I really don't know how to get it work. Information of how to get it work on my laptop would be very great. This laptop is going to be used as an NTP server with GPS for my local astronomy society to use to precision measure asteroid occultations.
Thank in advance

Open up the PCMCIA slot on the bottom and look up the FRU number (if any) on the card.
These machines shipped with either just a 56K modem (no LAN) or an Intel or 3M combo modem/LAN cards.
It is however entirely possible that someone installed an Atheros wireless card in the aforementioned slot.

Have you used Linux before? Or are you new to it? I have a mini-pci replacing the intel card on my old T20. It has worked without any issues with Debian, Ubuntu, Puppy, and Fedora.
What are you doing to try to connect to your access point?
