Just picked up a T42 1.7 XGA 1GB from a recycler for pretty cheap. No hard drive or caddy, but I think I'll boot from compact flash (I do in my T22).
Running from a Fedora 18 LXDE disk right now. I seems pretty decent. Wifi works, but no bluetooth module. I'll clean it up real good and see if it is worth holding on to or if I should just find someone else that wishes to own it.

Re: New T42 owner
T42's are excellent little machines. They're still fast enough for normal use and parts are cheap enough to play around with.
I'd keep it if I were you. I'm quite fond of mine. Had the same specs originally.

Re: New T42 owner
I may just do that. My original plan was to clean it up and sell it off, but I tend to collect computer gear. Cleaned it up a bit with some alcohol and rag (recycle center was pretty dirty). I am using a linux live cd to test it out. Not bad. Could use an SXGA+ screen though. For the 10 bucks I spent on this machine and docking station, it should work out well. Even has a 9 cell battery that appears to hold a good charge. Already have a 16GB compact flash and HD caddy on the way. if nothing else, it can be a cheap machine to tote around. My T60 is to nice to risk and the T20/22 is just too old to be useful besides basic stuff.DaKKS wrote:I'd keep it if I were you.
