Upper usb port NOT talking with me....

Can the usb connectors/connection be serviced?or is it like a Pasted GPU.The lower one is still working.Only the upper one stopped cooperating some weeks back.
I have removed all the screws from the back,NOW i want some advice with what can be done with the USB socket.!

MY T41 is a 400 FSB board witha 2GHZ dothan and a 160GB HD, approx. 1500 MB of memory

You can replace the whole USB-block with one from any other T4x/R5x board.

RBS, do you have any tips or tricks for removing those USB blocks?

I've tried a couple of times, but so far have failed to get one loose. Can't seem to get all the soldered connection hot enough at the same time to get it loose.

Use a powerful (40-60W) soldering iron and solder wick.
That sucks up the old solder.

That will be tried...I have a old fried T41 motherboard .

Woah a minute....!

Is the USB port physically damaged. If so it needs replacing and RBS's method is correct.

BUT, if there's no visible damage, it's likely to be an unsoldered Southbridge chip. it's one of the more common faults to see one USB working and not the other.

Reballing the chip is the solution.
