What symptoms EXACTLY are you experiencing? What makes you believe that you'd mess up a hard drive?

Well the dreaded 'no operating system found'.
We have 2 t42s, my husbands works fine has windows xp.... So when he put his hard drive in mine, still said no operating system founf, then when he put his back in his t42 it didnt read... He freaked out, and after 5 hours all it was was he had to enable the floppy legacy. Whats wro g withmine?

Most likely a loose Southbridge chip.
Either have it professionally reballed (in the UK) or get a new motherboard.
