Problem w/ Integrated Camera Z61m Win7
I have installed Win7 Ultimate 32-bit on my Z61m. I can not get the camera working. It does not show in Device Manager. I have tried different drivers but nothing works.
I have read that other forum members have installed Win7 on Z61m's. Can someone post a link to drivers and software that will work for me.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem w/ Integrated Camera Z61m Win7
Hi mklym
Have a look at this older thread regarding the webcams for the Z61 series.
Here is another link for cam related issues. Click here.
One other possible thing to look at is in BIOS. Restart and go to BIOS and then navigating to security>>I/O Port Access>>Integrated Camera>> Enable. If you at least have this setting in BIOS then move on to the next step
If your motherboard supports the camera then have you tried installing the communications utility? IIRC I noticed that there did not seem to be an explicit program that is designated as a webcam program for earlier ThinkPads. There could be but I did not find any when I installed a webcam on an X200. What I did notice was when I would press alt+F6 on W7 the
Communications Utility (if you have this installed) will pop up showing settings for the webcam, audio, and also show an inset box for the camera (by now you should see your face or whatever is in front of the camera). When I did not have the communications utility pressing Fn+F6 would not launch the Communications Utility interface.
Along with the Communications Utility I imagine you will also need the Hotkeys Drivers as well. When I look at the Z61m driver matrix there are integrated camera drivers for XP and Vista. You might want to install it in compatibility mode for Vista.
Hope that helps!

Re: Problem w/ Integrated Camera Z61m Win7
Hi emeraldgirl08,
Thanks for the reply and thanks for the links.
I have no I/O Port Access entry anywhere in the BIOS. There is nothing related to camera or any kind of imaging device. There is nothing showing in the Device Manager.
I have the Communication Utility installed, as I thought it would get the camera working, but all it shows are settings for the mic and speaker. I also have the Hotkeys driver installed.
I have been through the Drivers Matrix for the Z61m and have tried all the entries for the integrated camera and still no joy.
Thanks for your time and effort. Appreciated.

You may need to open the lid to check that the camera module is still connected to the LCD cable.
Or that there even IS such a module!

Re: Problem w/ Integrated Camera Z61m Win7
Thanks for the reply RBS.
I guess I should have stated earlier that all worked under XP. The camera seems to have disappeared when I installed Win7Ult onto a new 160GB Intel SSD.
Even if I had not seen the unit working, before I upgraded, I would not be questioning the hardware as it was bought from a highly reputable long-time forum member, such as yourself, who would have informed me of any problems before the purchase.
I do appreciate the input though. Thank you.
