Thinkpad... earbuds?
I was trying to find parts for my Thinkpad W700 awhile back, and I ended up somehow finding this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160767087315?ss ... 1439.l2649
And first thing I thought when I saw it was: "I WANT IT."
Yes... I bought a pair. But not on ebae. I found it cheaper on a few other sites(just google the part no.) But I mostly bought it just to bug my friends.
But what's intriguing is that I've been using them on and off... and they actually sound nice. Compared to other earbuds I have anyway. I bought some nice $30 Sony earbuds, and I think these sound just as good. But in my opinion... that neat little pouch, with the red lining, THAT'S worth the $19 I paid right there.

Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

Re: Thinkpad... earbuds?
I've seen these...but not heard them. I wonder if you got any documentation with them listing specs? Frequency response would be a nice bit of info to share.
Of course, I love the aesthetic of TP branding, and black and red color scheme (check out the firefox theme in the pictures subforum), so I get the desire here. I'd love to create one of those vinyl iPod skins for my classic in red and black (like the U2 iPod) with the 45° TP logo in the lower right, too.
I just hope those 'phones last you, because not all TP-braded stuff does. My TP backpack (current version for 15" models) had a divider split soon after purchase, but too long after the return window. I've had better luck with two sleeves (zipped, not the fold-over), BT mouse, and Ultrabay pouches. Never got my hands on the original IBM laptop HDD enclosure, but it was PATA anyhow. No huge loss.

Re: Thinkpad... earbuds?
I didn't get any user manual or documents with mine... just the pouch, earbuds and adapter for the microphone as well as different sized rubber ear inserts. Probably because I've been cheap and used a different online seller.
But I intend to take care of them... and probably not even use them that much. I mostly got them to bug my friends about my Thinkpad interest, and for novelty. But they are kinda cool.
I'll have to just use Audacity or something to see what frequencies they pick up. One thing I noticed is that with bass-boosters on, like with your iPod or computer's Dolby emulation, the thing goes tinny and kinda muffled. It is better than other earbuds, that go fuzzy or drone when hit by a bass-booster.
I'll have to test them some more-and report back.

Re: Thinkpad... earbuds?
Ah... that's pretty helpful to get info. Thanks!
As for my personal review on them-I decided to go one day without wearing my usual headset on the computer, and wear the Thinkpad earbuds instead.
Compared to my headset, they weren't up to snuff. That's not a fair comparison though... because my headset is a Plantronics Gamecom 780, with a USB connector and Dolby surround emulation.
Compared to other earbuds though-they're not half bad. And when I called my friend he said that my voice over the mic on the Thinkpad earbuds sounded noticeably different, but not bad, as I was expecting. In fact, they weren't half bad to use. They were quite comfortable, not annoying, and I could tell the ears apart very easily due to the right earbud being the bright red (which I think is a really cool idea taken from the Thinkpad's visual style) and the left being the shiny tuxedo black.
I'm really glad I got these. I don't plan on using them daily though- I have other earbuds if I have a road trip or something. I don't want to trash these earbuds either.
